Our topic for this unit is oppression. i have learnt and development a lot of new skills and here is a little reflection of my achievements:

We had made this PowerPoint Presentation on Oppression. It helped us reflect well about the topic and opened our minds and helped us think critically about how it happens around us in daily life. we recalled incidences which happened with us and even around and evaluated different situation by brainstorming. 

Poster Design

In this poster we basically reflected oppression using our creativity on paper. We worked on many different ideas and finalized with these two. The poster designing is just a small but important step to create a change. For creating a great effect on the mass, we will need a successful start which is our poster. I am sure this poster will be affective as we have thought creatively and worked hard on this to make it successful. I myself have personally noticed people turning their neck and stopping by to have a look at the poster. I think at least people in our school will have a thought about it and try to evaluate what the saw in their mind. They might even share this with their friends/family just as a awareness topic. It is also possible that someone who liked it a lot share it on social media which even spreads awareness more. I am sure it will have a good outcome as the message is very strong, the captions and illustration are affective, and the over design layout is very eye- catching and impacting.

my presentation on oppresion 

in this presentation i highlighted issues of opppresion . in this presentation we presented that what is oppresion , different kinds of oppresion prevalent in the society and how can we solve these problems.  i talked about that oppresion is when some person tries to over-rule other persons decision . then  i talked about racism and classism as these are the 2 most prevalent cases of oppresion . my proposed solution , was generall but bold , change in attitude of people , change the mindset of people be it through campaigning,demonstrations etc .in general my presentation is  short and precise . my perspective , about this presentation is , that it gives a fresh start for people to think about racism and classism .

the topic we chose was racism , because racism has a very deep meaning , which people sometimes dont tend to understand . in this poster we chose the idea of chess . in chess the player with the white piece  is the first one to move , while the player with the black piece goes second . in this poster we made a conversation between the 2 chess pieces , talking about stereotypes of racism , myths , taboos etc.my perspective about this poster is that it is very intriguing . the chess idea is really innovative and the dialogues give us something to talk about . the colour scheme of the following poster is bold and impactful.

 

i have chosen this interview as it showcased , the mindset of women in india . in this video when we asked that if married , would you include your husbands surname in your name . the teacher promptly said yes , but when asked about if he would add her surname , the teacher replied with no , saying that he wouldnt be comfortable . this is one of the main issues of oppresion that are pressed against married women . when we asked , that why would she change her surname , she said because its in our culture. for no rhyme or reason ladies change their surname to their husbands surname . here it also shows that how the man is ruling over the woman over her rights .

The PPT on oppression made me understand the aspect of it and also the thinking of certain social issues relevant to it. Through a lot of discussion and by giving examples on our real life experiences, discussing diff. kinds of oppressions, questioning and answering, debating and telling our point of views this activity was held from which we could know about many kinds of oppressions like racism, classism, colourism and lookism and know about people s present social views. All-over the activity was well conducted and well explained. Discussing about all kinds of oppressions changed my way of thinking and point of views. Through examples we could understand the kind off oppression better

The poster was made on racism in which the idea of giving an example of racism was very much understood. the racism was between black and whites and giving an example with the example of racism between blacks and whites is the most common and easy to understand topic and people can understand the example that we wanted to show them. The idea of pasting famous celebrity pics as borders of the posters made people attracted towards the poster and watch it. This idea was very innovative and we could actually observe people watching it when passing in front of it. The drawings and dialogues made it better to explain the example of racism. Many quotes were also given in the poster.

The interview of teachers, sir s and other staff members made us know their point of views, their views on present social issues, their thinking. The questions that were made for the school staff members were not very mouth opening. But still a lot of answers were given that made us think merciless about the thinking of our society and some answers inspired me. Many interviews were conducted with different questions. Some more questions could be asked but they may have made the school staff members a bit uncomfortable. All over the interviews were moral decent and simple.
